A Message from Al

Thank you for visiting my campaign website. PLEASE SHARE IT WITH FRIENDS AND PLEASE VOTE FOR ME IN THE REPUBLICAN PRIMARY MAY 29th. Please let me tell you a little about myself, and why I’m running for Railroad Comissioner in Texas.
I am a United States Air Force Vietnam Era veteran, who served as a Titan II Missile Technician. I started my civilian career as a computer programmer, developed a mainframe based software system that automated the development of business applications, and formed a company to continue development of that product and to serve Fortune 1000 / Fortune 500 companies throughout North America. I conducted many consulting and troubleshooting projects and maintained a reputation for being able to design systems solutions that had evaded others.
PARAMOUNT ISSUES:
♦ The PetroDollar War
Many people might wonder why, with our Federal Government seemingly trying to
spend us into hyperinflation, we are not yet there. Surely printing trillions of dollars has to dilute the value of our money, doesn’t it? Yes, it does. So why aren’t we into hyperinflation? The answer is PetroDollars. Decades ago, while America was still somewhat respected around the world, we managed to get agreement from all major oil producing countries and oil buying countries to trade oil only in US Dollars. That gave everyone one price to contend with and eliminated the day-to-day fluctuations in exchange rates. It also did something else...
It forced all oil buying countries to buy US Dollars in order to buy oil. That created a huge continuous demand for US Dollars. As you know, demand drives price, so that demand has held the value of US Dollars up—artificially !
We buy oil from other countries in US Dollars, too. If (when) the value of the dollar drops, the price of oil to us will rise accordingly. If you have traveled to Europe and bought gasoline, you will have noticed that our $4/gallon price would be welcomed by the Europeans. Because our dollar is artificially held up in value, our cost of oil, high as $100+/bbl might seem, is relatively low. NOT FOR LONG, THOUGH!
Russia and Iran have already announced they will drop the PetroDollars and sell in other currencies, most likely Euros. We can be sure that other countries will follow. That means that the illusion of a stable dollar is about to evaporate. Our cost of oil (and everything else) will skyrocket from the prices we already think are too high.
What Can Texas Do?
Texas is positioned better than any other state to extract, refine, and deliver oil from our own reserves. Every extra barrel of oil we produce is one barrel less that those unfriendly oil-producing nations will not sell to us. We can lead America to energy independence. This is not just a matter of our comfort and convenience. When gasoline is at, say, $12/gallon, many businesses and even entire industries will collapse throwing our entire country into chaos.
It is up to Texas to take the lead.
Help me to help Texas to help America!
♦ Energy Independence
I believe that there is no reason why Texas and America should
need any energy resources from the Middle East, Venezuela, or anywhere else. We have more than sufficient reserves in our own country to meet all our needs for hundreds of years (some say 400, some say as much as 900 years) using current technology. Current policies and regulations that limit our ability to tap our own resources are damaging our economy, creating unnecessarily high energy costs, and seriously weakening our national defense.
The concept of “Peak Oil” is an unproven theory and there is evidence that puts it in some doubt. Oil and Gas may actually be a “renewable” energy source. More information is needed before it will be known for certain; but meanwhile, the fear mongering about running out of oil is definitely not warranted.
The Keystone XL pipeline should be built with construction starting as quickly as possible.
I have a strategy to achieve energy independence for Texas, then for the USA, using technology and resources we already have.
Natural gas is abundant and cheap in Texas and I support expanding its use for electric production using Combinded Cycle generation, and to power vehicles. The RRC can license companies to do conversions from gasoline to compressed natural gas, which burns cleaner, is a Texas resource, and actually has a higher octane rating than gasoline.
♦ Abusive Regulation
Tens of thousands of unnecessary regulations from
Washington, especially from EPA, are crippling our industry in Texas, not only the energy industry; but many others that rely on affordable energy. Modern drilling and refining technology and mining methods for coal make the production of energy much more environmentally friendly than depicted by special interest groups that promote an anti-capitalist agenda.
To my knowledge, I am the only candidate for any office who understands the cause of the federal regulation problem and has a plan to address it effectively. Please watch the short video named “My Mission” under the heading “Important video” on the right side of this page for a little more explanation on this important topic.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality can do a much better job of protecting our Texas resources than the Federal EPA and it would have the best interests of Texas at heart, not a hidden agenda from Washington. Because it is closer to the people of Texas, Texans would be better able to rein it in when it exceeded its rightful mission.
More recently, my efforts were focused on real estate investing, and the authoring of a book sharing some of that knowledge with others with similar aspirations. This placed me squarely in the path of the continuing economic catastrophe that I believe was caused by, and has been exascerbated by, actions of the Federal Government and collaborating quasi-government organizations and giant corporations that are connected to corrupt government officials in the highest offices.
A Christian conservative (with some libertarian leanings), I believe in God and Country, small government, and a free-enterprise system allowing the freedom to succeed or to fail based on one's own ability and efforts, without government intervention or over-regulation. I empathize with Americans who have been hurt by the current economic malaise because I am one! I have strong beliefs and positions on matters regarding our Constitution, capitalism, and our future. I invite you to take the time to visit the links on my website to learn more about how I would address some of the issues that concern you the most.

Smart Meters
Agenda 21
In the past few years intelligent utility meters, called Smart Meters, have been being installed on millions of homes in Texas. It is being done without the homeowners' permisson, or even knowledge, in most cases. These devices, like most technology, are capable of doing both good and bad things.
On the good side, they can enable to utility company to accurately read your meter without having to send meter readers out in trucks. It can be done right from the home office. The meters could enable a variable rate to encourage usage during slack times (via a discount) when possible, and they can advise the utility company when your power fails so they can more rapidly respond and get the power back on.
On the bad side, they continuously transmit a radio signal that has been classified as a class 2B carcinogen by the World Health Organization, they report details of your usage into a central database, making them a surveillance device that has been installed on your home without a warrant, and they are capable of telling new smart appliances to shut down or adjust themselves based on any criteria the cental planners think is desirable. For instance, if it was decided that you were using “more than your fair share” of electircity, they could tell your smart thermostats to adjust from the 72 degress you had set them to to, say, 78 degrees. This is an invasion of your privacy that George Orwell had not even thought of. Of course, we can be quite sure that such power would be misused by governments, can't we?
Although electric Smart Meters do not fall under the jurisdiction of the Railroad Commission (they fall under the jurisdiction of the Public Utilities Commission, which is now, after-the-fact, considering an “opt-out” program in response to a huge outcry from the public once they learned what had been done), the new gas Smart Meters that are being introduced do. As Railroad Commissioner, I will block any forced installations of such devices on Texas homes. Before any such gas meter can be installed, the homeowner will have to have given written permission after being told exactly what all the pros and cons are. I will also use whatever influence I might have with the Public Utilities Commissioner to correct the wrong that was done by them in authorizing these meters to be installed without asking homeowner permission or even advising homeowners what they do. Please watch the short video clip below for a debate on the subject of Smart Meters. Clearly, my position is at odds with other candidates for Railroad Commission.
The Links page of this site contains many links to information about both Smart Meters and the United Nations' Agenda 21. I strongly oppose any cooperation on the part of Texas with the movement to undermine American and Texas sovereignty and individual rights, both property rights and civil rights.
Smart Meter Debate
Since the minute-by-minute details of your electric, or other utility, usage is being recorded, it is available as marketing data for the utility company, or whomever they might sell it to. And it is available to police or other government agencies demanding access to it. There are already reports of local police accessing and using the data in crime investigations, which does not seem threatening unless you consider that the data was gathered by an electronic surveillance device attached to individual homes without permission or a legal warrant. Catching a bank robber may be a good thing; but it is not difficult to imagine this data and capability being used to identify and punish persons who “hog” electricity or who run their clothes washer/dryer during “peak” hours. The liberal mindset is quite vocal about their belief that Americans use more than “our fair share” of the world's energy. There are massive political movements intended to level out access to energy worldwide. Rather than doing so by increasing production in other countries, they prefer to reduce American usage. In their hands, this power would be very harmful to us Texans and Americans.
Rather than find ways to restrict Texans' access to electricity, I belive we should be tapping our extremely vast resource of natural gas and employing modern generating technlogy to simply produce more electricity. Current technology in Combined-Cycle Gas-fired generation can result in extremely high energy efficiency and near-perfectly clean emissions. We can easily meet 100% of Texas' energy needs for the next hundred to three-hundred years and can also sell power to other states (Texas has its own separate power grid).

REMEMBER
Do you remember how this felt? We will have that feeling again soon.
The Three Letters
This speech was given while I was a candidate for Congress, not Railroad Commission; but I think if you watch it, you will understand that I think it is still very important. So, I decided to include it on this website.
